Stainless
Steel
Stainless steels, the
composition of a family of at
least 11%, a steel containing
chromium.
This is the main element that
provides high corrosion
resistance of steels, strongly
attached to the surface, dense,
ductile, very thin and the
presence of a transparent oxide
layer.
Thanks very thin amorphous layer
of stainless steels, corrosion
resistance, chemical reactions
by acting passive gain.
The oxide layer consists of
oxygen in the environment and
external influences (cut,
abrasion, machining, etc.).
Regains corrupted again, even
self-repairing old property.
In general, stainless steels,
five main groups :
- Ferritic,
- Martensitic,
- Austenitic,
- Ferritic-Austenitic (Duplex),
- Precipitation hardening alloys
can be applied
These groups undoubtedly the
most widely used austenitic and
ferritic stainless steels.
Contain 12-18% chromium ferritic
stainless steels are low carbon
austenitic stainless steels
contain nickel as the basis of
18% chromium and 8%.
Ferritic stainless steels
contain nickel alloy magnetized.
Composition of total production
of stainless steel, austenitic
stainless steels with 70% of the
most widely used in production
of stainless steel were found.
As shown in the chart below, the
demand for stainless steels,
especially in the last 20 years
has developed more than other
materials.
